Minecraft has a unique chunk system which only updates portions of the world which the player can actually see at a given time. This means things will happen like normal as long as you’re nearby, but at soon as you move far enough away that Minecraft stops rendering a specific chunk, nothing will happen in that chunk until you are back and close enough for it to load once more. This is one facet of Minecraft which routinely annoys players and thanks to the Dimensional Anchors mod, something you don’t need to deal with anymore. If you want this problem to go away, just keep reading.
The Dimensional Anchors mod adds a single block to Minecraft. It might look like a block of iron, but the gold trim around the edges should help you to tell the two blocks apart. After placing this anchor block, you can right click it and select a number of chunks around the block to load up and stay loaded, even when you move outside of visual range. There is a limited number of chunks you can force to remain loaded in this manner, so you will need multiple anchor blocks if you want to keep a massive area loaded and updating even when you aren’t nearby.
It might sound like a boring mod, but Dimensional Anchors is just so full of utility. Set up an anchor by your farms and your crops will grow even while you’re underground mining coal, iron and diamonds a thousand blocks away. Leave one by your monster spawner to monsters keep spawning – and dying – leading to an infinite, self-replicating supply of all monster drops you can get from a spawner. Just stop in occasionally to collect the drops. If you think about it, this mod is actually kind of broken, but sometimes that’s just what Minecraft players want from their modded content.
