The Dynmap mod brings dynamic, web-based maps to Minecraft; but what does this mean, exactly? If you’ve ever used Google Maps, Mapquest or another popular online mapping service, then you already know about web-based maps. This mod gives you a similar map which you can view in your browser window. The map updates regularly as long as you leave your browser open and it keeps track of many things, like nearby players, different regions in the world and messages which are typed into the game, which will appear at the top of your browser window when using this mod.
So why would anyone use the Dynmap mod? For starters, it makes sharing the map of your world with other players and people much easier – simply give them a link to visit and you don’t need to bother with taking screenshots, uploading them to an image sharing site, and all that other nonsense. Second, while map viewers can see the chat going on in-game, they can also interact with players, even if they aren’t actually playing with them, thanks to a unique and proprietary chatting service built right into the mod. This is more a tool for quickly getting feedback than anything else, but it’s exceedingly good for that.
