Have you lost your taste for fishing in Minecraft, but you still don’t want to go the cheater’s way and install an automatic fishing mod? Giacomo’s Fishing Net mod is a comfortable go between which lets you keep your integrity while allowing you to catch more fish with less effort. It’s the perfect mod for any island survivalist looking to actually stay on their island for more than a couple days before starving to death. It’s also relatively easy to make, though that could be construed as a bad thing by some players. With one of these nets you won’t need to worry about eating again.
The fishing net actually has two uses. It can be placed like a block in bodies of water for the potential to catch fish at what seems to be a random chance. Like a fishing rod, the net can also be used to snag enemies, friendly mobs and even other players and then drag them all over the place. The net requires only a stash of spider string to make, and if you happen to be living near a mineshaft with spider spawners all over the inside, you really will feel like a lucky player while using this mod.
Giacomo’s Fishing Net mod isn’t perfect though. The nets have low durability and seem to break without dropping nets most of the time when you try to retrieve them and the fish they’ve caught. This isn’t a big deal if you have a silk touch pickaxe to mine them with, but getting your hands on one of those could take days or even weeks or enchanting in Minecraft, especially now that you need a steady supply of lapis to do it. For cheap, reliable food production that doesn’t require you to raise any livestock or grow any plants, this mod is perfect.
