HerrSommer Dye Resource Pack for Minecraft 1.8.1

For fans of comic books, cartoons and other media where cell-shading allows for vibrant colors and textures, the HerrSommer Dye resource pack is one worth checking out. It’s from the same guy who came out with HerrSommer 1.8 and it has the same quality textures people have come to expect from his other resource packs. Colorful isn’t really the right word for this pack, because everything is so bright and bold it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before, at least in Minecraft. For those who have tried Wind Waker on the Gamecube, Minecraft looks very similar with HerrSommer Dye enabled.

Naturally, the graphics are still blocky like usual, but there’s no denying that textures take a big step up in quality when this pack is used. Even in places where the big boost in color doesn’t really show, like end portal rooms deep in dark dungeons, HerrSommer Dye manages to make textures stand out thanks to unflinching attention to detail. In places like human villages, mesas and forests though, it’s very easy to see why people would prefer playing with this resource pack over what they get from traditional Minecraft. Many players never go back once then get this pack.

Like other packs from the same author, HerrSommer Dye gets regular updates and was fairly recently updated again, to make it compatible with the newest version of Minecraft. It doesn’t include all of the new blocks and entities just yet, but that is sure to be remedied by the next update or two, and it probably won’t be more than another month before HerrSommer Dye has textures for everything that exists in Minecraft. At least, it will until Microsoft comes up with a new version of the game client.
