Mountain Island is a pretty simple adventure map that you’ll want to try out if traditional adventure maps aren’t exactly according to your liking. Most maps in this category tend to provide players highly immersive experience since they come with an extremely well thought out and detailed plot, engrossing gameplay, and immersive visuals and, while the Mountain Island does have the latter two of these characteristics, it doesn’t necessarily come with the first and it’s not that long in terms of play-time either so it’s a great map to play if you don’t want to sink a ton of time into following a long story and simply want to enjoy a straightforward experience.
In Mountain Island, you play the role of a person who’s been challenged with the task of reaching the top of a mountain and harvesting a golden apple. A lot of people have attempted this challenge before but pretty much every single person has failed. You, fully believing that you’re up to the task, head out on a journey to reach the top of the mountain and harvest the highlight sought after so that you can prove everyone wrong and make them regret doubting you. The plot doesn’t have that much depth to it but this is to be expected since Mountain Island doesn’t really aim to be like traditional puzzle maps.
The gameplay of Mountain Island is quite impressive regardless of the shallow story, though, since it comes with all the core gameplay fundamentals that have come to define adventure maps over the years. It’s worth mentioning, though, that Mountain Island can be a bit challenging at times so you’ll need a firm grasp on the basics of Minecraft’s gameplay if you hope to make it through to the very end without dying over and over again.
