PlantTech Mod for Minecraft 1.10.2/1.9.4

Players who enjoy doing survival island playthroughs but who also would like to actually have resources on their little islands would do well to check out the PlantTech mod for Minecraft. Not only does this mod totally scale up plants and make them more useful to the player while adding a bunch of new plants, but it also adds things like ore plants, which will actually yield metal for the player once they are fully grown, sort of like wheat plants cough up wheat once they turn brown. There is a special kind of glowing grass too, and this provides lighting over an area, doing away with the need for torches outside.

There are several new types of trees as well, and unlike the standard oak, birch or spruce trees, these are special. See, when you break these new trees, their foliage will degrade over time like normal. But instead of random saplings and an occasional apple of wooden block, you can expect to get metal ores and ingots, as well as other resources, from the trees. There are new machines implemented as well which will help you to refine some of these special drops into usable materials. Overall the PlantTech mod is pretty deep and involved.

As might be expected, you can process many of the new plants to get dying agents like you normally can with the flowers and plants which already exist in Minecraft. These won’t give you any crazy or outlandish colors, but they will allow you to get your hands on some rarer dyes earlier in your game. The single most useful plant in the PlantTech mod is probably the motherplant, which causes several of the newly implemented plants to spawn in a small area surrounding it once it is fully grown. These motherplants are what will keep you rich in resources, even on isolated islands.
