The Realistic Terrain Generation mod has been built for those players who seek to give their Minecraft a much more realistic look rather than leaning towards cartoonish visuals. The mod doesn’t directly implement any new stuff like blocks or biomes but instead it utilizes the game’s own resources to generate its terrain. The Realistic Terrain Generation mod by WhichOnesPink is essentially a re-branded variant of the Realistic World Gen mod that was designed by developer ted80. These two might seem quite similar to one another since they do serve the same purpose after all but if you look at them in a bit more depth, then you’ll see that this one has a variety of different elements that distinguish it.
What the Realistic Terrain Generation mod essentially does is that it uses the biomes that are already present in-game and uses them to generate terrain that looks realistic and sharp. One of the best things about this mod is that it’s pretty solid in terms of compatibility. It supports almost all the biomes that other mods implement and can, therefore, use those to generate its terrain as well. It’s worth mentioning that the mod is a result of multiple contributions from various Minecraft developers. For example, it uses OpenSimplex Noise by KdotJPG for most of its terrain generation.
As mentioned before, Realistic Terrain Generation with almost all mods but there are three specific mods that have compatibility issues with it and these are the Wildycraft mod, the TerraFirmaCraft Mod and the Mowzie’s mobs mod. Using Realistic Terrain Generations alongside any of these three mods can cause issues like crashing at startup. Onto its technical details, Realistic Terrain Generation functions pretty smoothly with a few minor hiccups here and there like problems with biome transitions near beaches but, fortunately, the issues are few and far in-between, so they don’t affect the experience that much.
