The Retro 16-Bit resource pack is for players who enjoy a retro art style and want to implement one into Minecraft. The pack is the successor to the Retro 8-Bit pack that was recently discontinued, so you’ll notice that both these packs share quite a lot of similarities. However, while they may share a similar art style, the Retro 16-Bit resource pack is still preferable since it improves on its predecessor in a lot of different ways and has a higher resolution. It’s also worth mentioning that Retro 16-Bit so it’ll be kept up to date for a long time.
Just like its name implies, the Retro 16-Bit has a very unique retro art style that’s quite appealing. Of course it goes without saying that this particular style of visuals might not be for everyone and some might even be put off by it but, if you’re among the audience who enjoys a retro art style that’s reminiscent to that of games of the retro era, you are going to adore the visuals that this pack brings to the table. The pack’s color palette is also some of the brightest out there, and these vibrant colors help elevate the visuals to a completely different level.
The Retro 16-Bit resource pack has a resolution of 16×16 which is a major step-up from the 8×8 that the original pack had. Of course one drawback that comes from this higher resolution is that players will need a slightly stronger PC to use the pack without frame-rate troubles but, as long as your PC can manage vanilla Minecraft without issues, it’ll be able to run this pack just fine.
