Road Blocks Mod for Minecraft 1.8/1.7.10

Some mods manage to change the way Minecraft is played without really making any drastic changes to item IDs, or adding a bunch of blocks, or breaking the game by adding overpowered equipment and armor. The Road Blocks mod is one of those simple but sweet mods. Not only does it implement a few angular blocks which are perfect for building roads, but it also lets you add special features to some of these blocks. At the moment, that namely means applying a turbo boost to a block if you wish. There are more abilities planned for the future, so more updates should be coming on this mod.

The Road Blocks mod features stone bricks, dirt and sand which can be manipulated in such a way as to build roads. These actually look like roads though, not the 3×3 paths made of gravel you usually find in and around NPC villages. Because of the config file that lets you turn some of the blocks into boosters if you wish, this mod is perfect for those looking to build a racing track or make something else where players would compete with each other to get through an area in the shortest amount of time. There are quite a few custom maps which would benefit from a mod like this.

Because the Road Blocks mod isn’t completed yet, players should expect to run into a handful of errors. Right now, there seems to be an issue with players checking the extra achievements which the mod adds – that is, when they check, their Minecraft client crashes. Not everyone is reporting this error, and though the author seems to have corrected it, some players are still experiencing it. Be sure you are using MC Forge and Forge-only mods when you are using this mod or you might get some unexpected occurrences as well.
