Super Mario 64 DS is a Mario themed resource pack that’s been inspired by the hugely popular Nintendo DS version of the game that received quite a lot of praise and critical acclaim when it first came out. The Mario game was a delight to play and one of the main reasons for this was the fact that it had some absolutely breathtaking visuals that players could enjoy as they made their way through the game. The Super Mario 64 DS resource pack aims to bring this same spectacular art style to the world of Minecraft and, all things considered, it does a pretty spectacular job of doing so.
The Super Mario 64 DS resource pack features some of the cleanest textures we’ve seen in a Minecraft resource pack and, alongside being so clean, the textures have a ton of detail in them as well. The amount of noise in the textures is close to negligible and this is great because noise is something that usually holds textures back from being truly spectacular. The color palette, much like the Nintendo DS Mario game, is quite vibrant and the bright colors make the visuals even more appealing than they already are. Some of the textures have colors that look a bit too sharp at times, though, but this issue only occurs in a small number of textures so it probably won’t hinder your experience all that much.
The Super Mario 64 DS resource pack has a resolution of x32 which is a notch above the usual x16 resolution so you can expect a lot more detail than usual in the textures. The pack does demand a bit more system resources than traditional packs, though, so you might have frame-rate troubles if you play Minecraft on a low-end PC.
