Unexpected is one of the few adventure maps that focus extremely heavily on providing players with a thrilling and captivating story above all else. It’s a very well designed map that’s full of twists and turns. It has great gameplay, solid visuals and of course, a top-notch plot, and all these things come together to make for an unforgettable experience. It’s a pretty short map, significantly shorter than most run-of-the-mill adventure maps today so you should be able to get through it pretty quickly but regardless of how quickly you finish it, what’s important is that every single second that you spend on this map will be quite memorable.
In the Unexpected map you play the role of Josh, a young man who has his whole life ahead of him and alongside his wife Cheryl is expecting a baby. However, little does Josh know that his life is about to take a turn for the worst. You must try your best to set things right so that Josh can once again return to his once peaceful life. The majority of Unexpected’s gameplay is dialogue based so most of the time you’ll be reading and controlling a whole lot of dialogue.
Alongside the dialogue based gameplay, the Unexpected map also features a lot of different puzzles based on traditional in-game mechanics that players will get to interact with. The puzzles aren’t necessarily that challenging but they provide a nice change of pace from all the dialogue based gameplay, and this change of pace is actually quite important since the core dialogue oriented play-style of this map can get rather repetitive at times, so it’s crucial that it consist of some other ways to keep the players engaged. All said and done, Unexpected is a splendid adventure map that comes with one of the most gripping stories ever.
