With all the different realistic resource packs out there for Minecraft, one would have to do something pretty amazing to stand out from the others. It would need to really beef up the textures with an increased resolution; it would need to look good on its own but even better with the appropriate shader pack; it would need to be thorough in the changes it made to the look of vanilla Minecraft. While the VeristiCraft resource pack does utilize some original textures, especially for animals, it does a good job with the other two qualifiers mentioned here. So let’s take a closer look at it.
First, it’s kind of hard to judge VeristiCraft on the textures because they haven’t been finished yet. The pack is only 60% complete or so, according to the author. What’s been finished so far does look pretty great though. The 128x resolution allows for true high definition textures that look grainy, worn and most important of all, believable. They look real. You’re not going to forget you’re playing Minecraft or anything, but you will start to wonder if maybe you’re playing a different game, especially if your client is heavily modded. That full moon every night is a little creepy though.
As far as the shader thing goes, VeristiCraft does look even better with a couple of different, compatible shader packs. You can see a live video review of the pack yourself anytime you want by checking out PonzooSaus on Youtube; that’s a Minecraft fan who plays the game with lots of different resource packs enabled and reviews the lot of them. On the other hand, for the most informative experience of all, you couldn’t do better than downloading VeristiCraft and giving it a try for yourself. You can always just get rid of it later if you don’t like it.
