There are many Minecraft mods out there, really too many to count. Occasionally you get one which really shines and stands out because it does something unique, or it does something better than any other mod trying to do the same thing. The AutoSwitch Mod is one of the former types of mods. It’s incredibly useful, but also simple, and if you use it while playing online nobody is going to accuse you of cheating. Still, some servers might detect the mod as some foreign software and give you the boot anyhow – use AutoSwitch while playing online at your own risk.

As for the content of the mod, it’s very simple again. As you go through Minecraft digging dirt, chopping trees or hacking stone and ore out of the ground, the AutoSwitch Mod will automatically switch your currently held tool to match the operation needed. Holding a sword when you start chopping away at a tree? The mod will put an axe in your hands as long as you have one in your inventory. Go and do some mining after chopping down some trees? Again, the mod will automatically put the highest quality pick you’re carrying into your hands. It’s actually pretty cool.

The best part is, there don’t seem to be too many other mods which do this same thing. AutoSwitch is perfect for people who are sick of rolling their mouse wheel constantly in Minecraft. It really can be bothersome too if you’re out doing more than one single thing, like farming, mining and collecting wood all in one trip. Of course, those are also the only times this mod is useful. If you’re just going to hack up a field to plant some wheat there or something, this mod will literally do nothing for you, except for quick switch to your sword if you get attacked and defend yourself while farming.
