What movie series could be a more iconic piece of the 80s than Back to the Future? The films are still referenced today as if they were pieces of pop culture, even though they are more than 20 years old and only getting older as more time passes. You sometimes even find the movies creeping into other media, like Minecraft. The Back to the Future Mod adds a working DeLorean to Minecraft which the player can drive around much like riding a horse. W A S D keys will move the car in various directions and it can be turned with the mouse.
The two hover boards added by the Back to the Future Mod work in a similar fashion. They will let the player kind of glide a foot or so above the ground, and they will navigate heights of half a block without the need to jump or anything, just like a running player would. What they won’t do is let you float over bodies of water. See, just like in the movies, the hover boards in this mod interact very poorly with water, breaking down or just simply breaking and forcing you to build a new one if you want to ride again once you’re back on solid land.
Unfortunately, that’s where this Back to the Future Mod ends. It is still in the early stages of development, so maybe there will be more content in a future release. But what good is a Back to the Future mod that doesn’t have a thing to do with time travel? It was such an important plot point in the movies that it seems silly to make a mod without implementing it. Perhaps a new dimension (or two) would give this mod the time traveling appeal it needs to feel authentic.
