Chroma Hills is a rare resource pack because it takes RPG elements and runs them in a totally different direction. Whereas most resource packs of the RPG type tend to be darker and give the game’s world and monsters a more menacing look, Chroma Hills is pretty colorful, fresh and bright, making Minecraft look more like a cartoon than many other resource packs do. That’s not really a bad thing at all, and this resource pack does a good job of combining these two elements into something unique which you can’t find anywhere else. No doubt that has a lot to do with this pack’s popularity.
Adding further to that would be the fact Chroma Hills is still getting updates, and was just recently updated to work in line with Minecraft 1.13.1. That’s the latest version of the game, and unfortunately, many other resource packs haven’t yet been updated to work properly with it. It also comes in two different resolutions, with a 64x variety for lower-end computers and a 128x variety for those who want true HD textures in their Minecraft world. Every type of ore as well as lapis, Redstone, diamonds, and emeralds all have unique images too, so it’s easier than ever to go mining for just a specific one.
There’s really not a lot more to say about Chroma Hills. It changes all the textures from Minecraft and doesn’t really cling to any of the standard images, so it looks and even feels like a completely different game when you’re running this resource pack. Some of the stained glass windows look especially nice and even better when you add relevant mods like Connected Textures or Better Glass to the mix. This is one resource pack for which it is definitely worth finding compatible shaders.
