Decoy might seem like an incredibly simple mod on paper since it doesn’t really add a lot to the game but in reality, it’s actually capable of making the lives of a lot of players significantly easier by allowing them to get out of sticky situations with relative ease. The mod implements a decoy mob into the game that players can keep in their inventory and then utilize whenever they feel like it’s necessary. Using the mod is pretty simple, simply click on the decoy when you have it in your inventory, and it’ll deploy the decoy to wherever your mouse is aimed.
The decoy implemented by the Decoy mod does basically what you’d expect. It acts as a decoy in situations that you need to get away from. Whenever you throw out a decoy, it’ll attract mobs towards itself, and this can be insanely useful when you’re being piled on by a bunch of mobs and can’t take much more hits. It can also be very useful when you want to get to a certain place, but that place is guarded by an absurd amount of mobs that you simply cannot take out on your own. All you have to do is throw the decoy some place close to the mobs and they will be attracted to it thus allowing you to get into the place you initially wanted to.
The Decoy mod came out fairly recently so it’s likely that it’ll consist of a few bugs but up until now none have been reported which is definitely a good sign. The mod has been designed for Minecraft 1.9.4, so it’s recommended that you keep your game’s client on the same version before installing it if you want to avoid running into any potential crashes and compatibility problems.
