Forbidden Magic is overall a pretty well-designed mod that’s been built to act as a sort of add-on for the already existing Thaumcraft mod. Thaumcraft is a mod that focuses mostly on witchcraft and magic, but it doesn’t really emphasize on the darker side of magic which is why it doesn’t manage to reach its full potential. However, Forbidden Magic has created solely for the purpose of enhancing Thaumcraft’s features by implementing various ‘dark’ magic techniques into Minecraft that make the gameplay considerably more interesting and give players tons of enjoyable things to do while they go about their daily adventures.
The Forbidden Magic comes with an absolutely enormous array of new features that are sure to elevate your Minecraft experience quite significantly. It adds five different kinds of wand cores and three of these are capable of cross-mod interactions as well which is quite impressive. Alongside these, there are lots of new tools, enchantments, rituals and flowers that the players can utilize for all their magic related needs. Forbidden Magic also comes with some highly useful scribing tools that can be used to document any research that you’re conducting on the capabilities of magic in Minecraft.
One of the most noteworthy features of Forbidden Magic is the craft-able spawner that functions flawlessly without needing any players nearby which is something that can’t be said for a lot of other spawners. Onto the technical side of things, the Forbidden Magic mod works quite seamlessly alongside other mods most of the time but some of the updates that it’s received recently have hindered this functionality a tad bit so you might notice compatibility issues when using this mod alongside others that don’t have a similar purpose such as Tinkers’ Mechworks. All said and done, this is a great addition to Thaumcraft that unlocks a lot of its potential.
