For some players, the most interesting part of any Role Playing Game or RPG is the items which can be obtained from enemies and bosses as drops after a battle. If this sounds like you, you’d probably really like the RPG Loot mod for Minecraft, which makes the goods dropped by monsters more dynamic than ever before. When mobs die, rather than just exploding into a cloud of smoke and whatever they would normally drop, they instead fall down on the spot. The dead body must then be looted for items, as if you were taking goods from a dead enemy in Skyrim or Fallout or something.
This might seem like it would slow down the game after a while, but thankfully all the bodies come with a 5 minute despawn timer attached. Once you’ve taken your loot (or left it, it doesn’t matter) and you haven’t interacted with the body for 5 minutes, it will simply disappear. Only the player who actually kills the mob will be able to loot it, so the RPG Loot mod helps to stop random players from running up and jacking your loot like they might in other games. Mobs which are killed by the environment or each other can be looted by anyone.
The RPG Loot mod certainly comes with some interesting ideas, and they are mostly executed well too. Some of the mobs just don’t take too kindly to the mod though. Slimes are especially buggy and will freak out upon death, making it difficult to loot slime balls from them. Most of the other mobs fall down and leave a body when they die though, so the one buggy mob doesn’t detract from the rest of the mod. Players aiming to create a great RPG world in Minecraft might want to grab up the RPG Loot mod.

Very good mod. I enjoyed using it but had to un-install it because of the problem when using it with Lots-O-Mobs and other mob packs I’ve installed because even though they fall to the floor and still have the death appearance, which I think is good, they are sometimes hard to loot because of how big they are. This is the mammoths, giraffes… and the slimes from normal Minecraft.
I’m playing in 1.7.10 as it’s the only way some of these mods i’ve installed would work. For the most part this mod was fine so I don’t have any complaints as it does make parts of gameplay more interesting
