Not every Minecraft mod needs to make significant changes to the game to be worth downloading and installing. Some, like the Simple Refinement mod, are just great utilities that take some of the usual hassle out of Minecraft. The process really is simple – just take your iron or other gear materials and run them through your furnace a second time. This will add the refined tag to the item name and then, when making tools using only refined ingots, the tools will also be refined. This boosts the overall durability by 50%, which does a lot to make diamond tools last longer but very little for gold tools.
That’s because an extra 50% of a very small number is still a very small number, so gold tools don’t benefit very much from this mod. However, the Simple Refinement mod does make your tools last a lot longer, so if you’re one of those who wish you didn’t have to enchant new sets of tools so often, you might really like this mod. It’s important to note that your gear only gets the refined bonus if you use all refined ingots to craft it. You can use normal and refined ingots interchangeably, but you only get the refined bonus on your gear if all the materials have been refined before crafting.
That’s really all there is to the Simple Refinement mod. Oh, except for one thing. This refinement process is not an enchantment; that means you can enchant your tools, even the refined ones. It w as mentioned once before, but here it is one more time just to clarify. Because you can stack refined status and buffs like Unbreaking IV together, you can get tools that last a long time indeed – maybe even longer than your character manages to survive.
