The Bagel Mod adds – what else? – bagels to the world of Minecraft. These food items come in a number of varieties including normal bagel, ender bagel and mossy bagel just to name a few. They are crafted using a number of materials found in the game, with some utilizing very strange recipes that include rotten flesh or bits of mossy cobblestone. The bagels are easy to store, at least in their normal form. They can be stacked in 9s just like coal for coal blocks or wheat for hay bales. Those stacks can be broken down later to get back the 9 bagels used to make them.
Everything starts with wheat in The Bagel Mod. You need to use 8 pieces to make a ring on a crafting table to make a raw bagel. This can be fires in any furnace and made edible, but it can’t be stored in packages like the cooked bagels. Strangely, bagels can be crafted once more after they’ve been cooked, which is where the special ingredients like gold ingots and netherrack come into the picture. The mod is very good for getting some extra use out of a number of materials which are probably just stacking up in your storage space.
There may be some custom effects planned for the different bagels, but the way The Bagel Mod is right now they just act like plain old food items. They don’t give any potion effects or other benefits and to be honest, they’re actually a bad way to stay fed since they take so much wheat to make a single bagel. Perhaps the bagels will be made into ammunition as well as there is apparently a Bagel Launcher item planned for the immediate future of this mod. It will be interesting to see what this is like when it’s finished, but right now this mod just adds a bunch of basic food items.
