Essentially, the Brazier Mod adds a number of new light sources to Minecraft. There are three light blocks in total, as well as a fourth sort of replacement for furnaces which apparently burns through fuel at a faster rate, making it useless for large jobs. The purpose of this mod was to present Minecraft players with a number of more realistic light sources than just torches plastered onto the walls. It’s amazing really how many wooden houses full of open-flame torches haven’t burned down in Minecraft yet when you really think about it. So this mod adds lights – what about it?
Well, the mod adds a number of brazier items to Minecraft. You get floor and wall mounted ones that look like ensconced lanterns; these are replacements for the standard torches. You also get the cooking brazier, which is really a bad replacement for your furnaces. It’s still a very useful light source if you have some extra fuel and items to smelt in your inventory though. You’ll find yourself using a lot of iron with this mod, so for those players who are sick of seeing the whitish metal piling up in their storage spaces, here’s a way to get some utility out of it.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like any updates are coming for The Brazier Mod – not just not, but ever. The author has moved away from Minecraft after learning about how to code in Javascript and gone on to bigger and better projects. However, he’s left us with this small but useful mod in his wake. At least it works and doesn’t bug out or cause crashes, at least when you’re using it with the right version of Minecraft. As to that, the mod was released sometime around April 2015, so it should work with Minecraft versions 1.8 and upward.
