The Yet Another Food Mod, or YAFM to some, is another Minecraft mod from AiryBreath, an author famous for producing a handful of other mods. Basically, this mod adds a number of new food items to enjoy in vanilla Minecraft, as well as a couple go-between recipes which should by all rights already exist in the game. For example, fried eggs can be produced by placing eggs into a furnace and smelting them. They’re just as good as bread in terms of hunger points and saturation, but you can also use them as food for your wolves. That’s just the beginning, too.
Carrot soup is another new food which feeds you and makes you full about as well as a carrot – except each bowl of carrot soup has three helpings. That makes it a significant improvement over mushroom soup and brings carrots up from their current garbage tier in terms of good Minecraft food, putting them on par with potatoes as far as hunger and saturation points go. You can get meat from squids too, and that’s about as good as chicken. While the Yet Another Food mod does add mutton to Minecraft, that’s kind of redundant with the latest versions of the game, which include mutton already.
Other food items, like baguette loaves and dough, may appear in future releases of this mod. For now, they are nowhere to be seen, only hinted at by the author but not yet implemented. Honestly, if you already have another more comprehensive food mod, you can probably ignore this one. There are mods that add dozens of new food items compared to the 6 or so you get from this mod, so feel free to ignore it in that case. However, the small scope of this mod makes it the perfect first food mod for players looking to add more edibles to Minecraft.
