Hooked is perhaps one of the most, if not the most, effective grappling based mods we’ve come across throughout the entirety of our experience with Minecraft. Grappling based mods aren’t necessarily all that common, but there do exist a few that definitely seem fun in concept but fall short a bit in terms of actual execution. The Hooked mod, on the other hand, is one of the most cleverly crafted mods of this particular sort available because it feels like an absolute delight to use and, at the same time, it isn’t all that complex, so players will be able to get the hang of it within mere minutes.
The purpose of the Hooked mod is, of course, to allow players to move from one place to another by hooking and grappling. Using a grappling hook is something that, on paper, might seem like it would be challenging to master but this mod simplifies it so that players become adept at using the hook within mere minutes. The ease of use of the grappling hook in the Hooked mod is primarily because it moves in a perfectly straight line when shot out, it pulls with constant force, it’s bound to a bauble key so you can always access it immediately and, finally, you can release hooks whenever you want by simply pressing the space bar key.
One of the most praiseworthy aspects of the Hooked mod is the fact that it simulates hooks on both client and server sides which is why, even if you’re playing with a connection that’s facing lag, you likely won’t have to worry about the lag messing up your hooks too much because they’ll be simulated client side as well. All said and done, Hooked is without a doubt the best mod of its kind, so it definitely comes highly recommended from us.
