Sometimes very basic mods are really the most popular ones, like in the case of the No Fire Spread mod. There are other mods which have accomplished in the past what this mod does today, but this is probably the most up-to-date mod which prevents fire from spreading in a Minecraft world. The implications of this should be pretty obvious to anyone who has ever tried to build a working fireplace only to watch their home burn to the ground. In Minecraft, fire spreads quickly to everything nearby and burns it all. At least that’s how it normally works.
With the No Fire Spread mod installed, things are a bit different. Fire will still burn, and if you light up a block of wood or something else which fire can ultimately destroy, it will eventually burn until there is nothing left. However, like the name suggests, the fire won’t spread to any other blocks. This is perfect for making a fireplace, and you can simply use some chunks of nether rack to make a fire that will never burn out. This sort of fire is actually an excellent source of light, but besides that, it can also be used as a deterrent to stop hostile mobs from invading your base.
A wall of nether rack surrounding your base with a fire burning on every block of the stuff makes quite the barrier. Granted, eventually monsters and other players will stop burning, but that doesn’t mean they won’t take a lot of damage or maybe even die before that happens. If you like building intricate structures but hate to see them burn down, the No Fire Spread mod could be for you. If you just like making contained blazes that don’t spread and incinerate everything nearby, it’s still a pretty good option.
