The Wear Your Enemies Mod, or WYEM for short, adds a host of new armor items to Minecraft. Each of these can be crafted using materials dropped from hostile mobs, like using pearls from ender men to make an ender chest plate, for example. All of these armor suits made from mob drops have special abilities too, which can be traced back to the abilities of the mobs killed to craft the gear. The ender chestplate is especially nice since it has about a 10% chance to teleport you 5 blocks in a random direction when someone shoots at you with a bow or other, modded ranged weapon.
Other effects are predictable too. The spider threads, some nice shoes made with string and spider eyes, will actually allow you to climb walls, just like spiders. This is probably the best item from the mod because it opens up a whole new dynamic in travel, but that doesn’t mean you should just ignore the other armor. The Head Collector helmet has its uses too. Crafted from iron and sticks, this headgear will boost the odds of mobs dropping their heads by 2%. This is kind of nice for getting random mob heads and amazing if you’re farming wither skeletons and looking to spawn the Wither.
It should be mentioned that the Wear Your Enemies mod is still in development, so some bugs should be expected with some of this gear. However, all signs are promising a stable, usable mod that will make Minecraft more fun to play. Considering how quickly the mob gear items lose durability and break down, this mod will have you building spawners with gusto you haven’t felt since your early days in Minecraft. Because none of the gear is really overpowered either, there are few bad things to say about this mod.
