Building bridges is usually such a simple process in Minecraft. A couple pieces of stairs, a little elevation and a long, flat plane going over the water, lava or other environmental hazard is usually enough to get the job done. But these bridges are so blocky, rigid and unrealistic that they could only work in a world as blocky as Minecraft. The Rope Bridge mod makes bridges a bit more dynamic and believable by making them react to players who happen to be crossing them. You can still make standard, simple bridges, but the rope bridges implemented by this mod are great in terms of realism.
That’s because they rock and rattle, just like real rope bridges. But building the bridges is probably even more fun than crossing them thanks to the grappling gun used for construction. By pointing where you want to build and shooting, you can simply and easily construct rope bridges, piece by piece, for just about any length you need. The bridge is animated even when you’re not on it but simply building it, and the pieces also have a sense of hit detection for any blocks you might run into while you’re building. The Rope Bridge mod should force the sections around any blockages.
The Rope Bridge mod also allows for quarter-slab sized blocks to be placed, so those rope bridges can curve around some very tight spaces if that’s what you have in mind. As might be expected, you’ll need to gather a ton of wool to build a rope bridge of any considerable length, so be sure to start up a sheep farm if you want to get the most out of this mod. Also, be careful while sneaking around those bridges – right clicking with the grappling gun while sneaking will completely destroy a rope bridge, even if you’re walking on it at the time.
Recipes:
To craft the grappling gun, three sub-parts must be crafted first:
Hook: 5 iron ingots
Barrel: 6 iron ingots, 3 strings
Stock: 1 flint and steel, 1 gunpowder, 2 iron ingots, 1 string, 2 wood
Now the gun itself can be crafted from the three parts:
